Subject: Above All
Michael W Smith has this beautiful song entitled Above All. The lyrics capture my heart in a way that causes me to pause and consider Godís love. No one can love you the way God can. Your mother comes close. I know my mom does. Your father comes in second and your companion might even come close. Your brother and sister love you dearly. But I donít think anyone could ever love you the way God does.
He is all powerful, wise, and mighty, formed the world, caused the seasons to come and go in their proper time, made the oceans obey and the stars and moons to shine. Yet, even though He does all these things and so many more, His love is faithful enough to come down and die for you and I. We didnít ask Him to do this, some of us probably werenít even thinking of Him, didnít know Him yet, or may never know Him. But He did it anyway.
Thatís what I think of as I listen to Above All. Its pure lyrics, soothing melody and Michaelís beautiful voice just makes me want to fall in love with Jesus all over again.
I hope while youíre out buying those chocolates, roses, and teddy bears, that you take the time and think on Godís amazing sacrifice. He did it so you and I may have life and have it more abundantly.
Happy Valentineís Day
Lyrics to Above All
Above all powers above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasure of the earth
There's no way to measure what You're worth
Crucified laid behind a stone
You lived to die rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me
