Hi there readers and fellow authors. I am Willie Tee and I send out newsletters from time to time to keep you informed of the progress I am making in the promotion of my book, The Winds of Destiny, 2nd Edition. I will mention in my newsletter book festivals, speaking engagements and book signings that I attended or will attend in the future. I also inform readers of other fellow authors that I have met and the titles of their books. Importantly, I want to encourage others to become authors, a dream come true, and to provide them guidance on how to become skillful authors.

Subject: Television News Report: The Winds of Destiny
Tentatively, the television news repoort concerning my book will air 30 May 2002, 6:00 PM on WECT, Channel 6, Wilmington, NC. The report will be narrated by news lady Brandi Davis. My brother, George, and I accompanied the WECT news crew to two counties in N.C. to document matters that are depicted in my book. The news segment was filmed about 2-3 weeks ago. WECT is a NBC affiliate and so is our local WWBT, Channel 12. I have contacted WWBT about airing the segment here in Richmond. It is possible that NBC affiliates might air it around the country. After I wrote my book, some people kidded me at work, that I must have written my book at work. I assure you that no one can write a quality book at work. Of course Kidding can lead to vicious rumors. I spent 6 long months working on this book at home and it was a book about true events that I experienced. I also want to remind people that writing a book is not a conflict of interest. It is an expression of our rights, the right of free speech. With that said, we need to have a funeral again real soon for Jim Crow. He is constantly resurrecting himself. People often ask me how my book is progressing. I always respond that it is progressing well. Most books except bestsellers sell about 1,000 copies. I have been there and gone...thats all I am going to say about that. Some people need to keep in mind that I only wrote a book, which many people are doing nowadays, but I have not shot anyone. However, if I had shot someone, I would have more press than I am getting now and would be easily recognized on sight. No, I am not a mud slinger or a person who causes trouble. I am an encourager. I encourage every one regardless of color, to fulfill their dreams. As our basketball coach/teacher use to say, "Be a go getter"...."Go and get what you want, because it sure as hell aint going to come to you"...and he is a black man. I do not want to sell tupperware, avon or mary kay because it is a woman's thing. With me, I want to have book parties, so the sponsor can make some extra money. Nothing wrong with making money. Some one told me days ago that their financial situation was so bad, they were considering suicide. I told the person, "Hey, get many of your friends and relatives over to your place for a signing of my book. It will be a fund raiser to get you back on your feet, because 1/3 of the sales or better would go in your pocket." Now think about it, is any book stores offering you anything to bring in customers? Will they sponsor a fund raiser for you?? Do not hold your breath. I am a person who was handed a losing hand out of a deck of cards and decided I would change the losing hand, despite the odds, to a winning one. You can beat the odds too by believing in yourself and others. There is an old adage, "That you can lead a horse to water, but you can not make him drink." I think they should change this to read, "You can lead people to water, but they won't drink because something got to be wrong with the water. Besides, people don't help each other, so there gots to be a trick." The horse is smarter then most people, because he always drinks the water.
