Hi there readers and fellow authors. I am Willie Tee and I send out newsletters from time to time to keep you informed of the progress I am making in the promotion of my book, The Winds of Destiny, 2nd Edition. I will mention in my newsletter book festivals, speaking engagements and book signings that I attended or will attend in the future. I also inform readers of other fellow authors that I have met and the titles of their books. Importantly, I want to encourage others to become authors, a dream come true, and to provide them guidance on how to become skillful authors.

Subject: Defeat at Atlanta

This past weekend showed me that despite a half million fetival goers at the Atlanta Sweet Auburn Springfest, it does not insure that authors will sell books...In fact the majority of the persons present told the array of authors present that they were broke for money. Without doubt this was not the land of milk and honey or the black man's Mecca as I had imagined it. In fact, the wisdom of a the only black book store owner in Richmond was remembered..."We should always plan events around the 2nd or 3rd of the month or the weekend directly thereafter because we have the most money then"..Many of the festival goers apolgized and took business cards with promises that they would buy us author's books later...I then reflected that two weeks ago at Chesterfield Towne Center, (B Dalton Book Store) I broke the record for the most books sold at that store by any author during a signing....The record I broke was my own record which I established two months earlier..The store had about 200 visitors during the five hours that I set a new record compared to a half million people at Atlanta, Georgia....Question is: "Are things that bad economically at Atlanta"?? According to the majority of people that I spoke with, the economy is terrible and their prospects for good paying jobs is slim...I experienced the same thing at Memphis, TN last April...I have sold more books at a service station while refueling my car than a 10 hour book signing at Atlanta and Memphis...In short, I have no immediate plans to re-visit either city again...Security guards at fast food places around both cities to guard your car is not promising either...If I do return to Atlanta someday, I will have to arrange a media circus (dog and pony show) with large cash prizes to draw out the timid book buyers....Well, with ingenuity I could sell mule defecation as law fertilizer, which I did years past as a teenage with a superior profit margin than Atlanta...I b.s. you not...You know that something is wrong with that picture...Well, this friday evening at 7 PM (May 2, 2003). I will be at Barnes & Noble, Virginia Center Commons for a book signing.....It will be a battle royal, because my defeat at Atlanta will cause me to use every sales tactic conceivable (Blitzkreig) to keep my position at the head of the pack....Well, with a formidable best selling book, all is possible except at Atlanta...Thanks reader for helping "The Winds of Destiny" soar to the top....A fan at Brooklyn, NY told over 100 other readers about this book and sales are higher there than anywhere else...Canadians and Britons have also purchased the book, so word of mouth will help it become international...My eulogy at Granny's funeral is becoming a reality (international attention)...Also check out my interview at 17 May 2003, there will be a breast cancer fund raiser at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, downtown, Richmond, VA....12:00 noon to 6 PM...I will be there with other authors to sell books for the fundraiser..start saving money now---"Broke" is not an excuse----Do not make Richmond look bad....LOL...
