Hi there readers and fellow authors. I am Willie Tee and I send out newsletters from time to time to keep you informed of the progress I am making in the promotion of my book, The Winds of Destiny, 2nd Edition. I will mention in my newsletter book festivals, speaking engagements and book signings that I attended or will attend in the future. I also inform readers of other fellow authors that I have met and the titles of their books. Importantly, I want to encourage others to become authors, a dream come true, and to provide them guidance on how to become skillful authors.

Subject: The Donkey Told The Truth

I took time to donate funds to the American Red Cross in support of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I had planned to write a newsletter sooner concerning this catastrophe, but I did not have the strength to do so. Some people were somewhat preoccupied with Labor Day celebrations and gasoline costing much more at the pumps after Hurricane Katrina. My thoughts mind was on the thousands of people who had perished and not on the high cost of gasoline. I prayed for the victims and survivors. Frankly, I was not concerned about the cost of gasoline, because it is a commodity that is representative of material things. Hurricane Katrina destroyed material things in its wake, which shows us that the destructive forces of nature and even man can wipe off the face of the earth all that we toiled and labored for. Some people said that they lost everything, but that is not true. Some people who made these statements are still alive; therefore they did not lose everything, because importantly they are still alive.

I remember a passage in the bible where a man was warned by the angels of God not to enter a particular city. This man, whose name I can not recall, was disobedient and attempted to enter the forbidden city while riding on a donkey. The donkey came to a sudden halt on the outskirts of the city and would not move forward. The man admonished and scolded the donkey but it refused to enter the city. Then the donkey turned and spoke to its rider. The donkey told him that there was an angel standing in front of them with a mighty sword in its hand and would strike the man and donkey down if they moved forward. The man then turned his donkey around and departed. I told this story for a reason because the donkey saw danger and told the man what the danger was and that death was imminent. Sometimes, some people call a donkey an “ass”. In this story, it is clear that the donkey was stellar and the word (ass), which also describes a person ( who is stupid, ignorant, and arrogant)did not apply to this donkey.

Why did I tell the story about the donkey? Because we have some humans who fit the negative description that some people use when speaking of donkeys. I was at Long Island New York, 4th of July 2005 weekend. My sister in laws, my brother in laws and my wife discussed terrorism. I commented that Homeland Security was a farce and that on any given day, this country could be struck (terrorism) in a horrible way. I commented that I sat with them that day in discussion (alive) but who knew what tomorrow might bring. This could have been our last day in the land of the living. A few days later, suicide bombers struck the rail system at England and people perished.

In the case of Hurricane Katrina, we needed a donkey to say, “Leave from this city (New Orleans) or you will surely die.” This would have been a factual statement as you know, because 80 percent of the residents or people with means departed or evacuated, while the poor or down trodden were left to die and a substantial number of them did.. However, our government, our president, the Governor of Louisiana, the Mayor of New Orleans, the Army Corps of Engineers and scientists knew that with the coming of a category 5 hurricane that death (high volumes) was imminent. President Bush even declared the Gulf Coast a disaster area before the hurricane arrived. No one offered to evacuate the poor and needy. None we suffer from shame, grief, and despair for our government’s gross negligence.

Some time in the near future, we will hear(but not from the donkey) that the problems at New Orleans have been fixed and the city will never suffer a catastrophe or flood again. We should then ask key members of the government to fly down in the event of another Category 5 storm and stay in the nice little house near the levees. If something happened right now, they would be hauling and dragging key government leaders to aircraft and departing in haste to deposit these people in deep well protected caverns of the earth with all the luxuries of home. We get to stay at home, because we got Homeland Security, which has been death with a guarantee thus far for some.

I will close this newsletter by giving you a glimpse of an extract from my newest book, The Winds of Destiny-The Keepers of the Secret. Please keep the victims and evacuees of the hurricane in your hearts and mind. Pray for them and for the rest of us.

EXTRACTS

When we arrived back at the family farm later that morning, it seemed that the house, the animal pens and other structures had been power washed clean. Everything was sparkling clean.

I looked upon the sky and its horizons and noticed that they were a magnificent blue color. Yes, the destructive storm was gone, but our farm suffered no damages and no loss of farm life. Aunt Margaret and Aunt Peggy with their sons also survived the storm (hurricane) and their shanty and my mother’s shanty were not damaged. Granny commented that we would thank God, because through our prayers, he spared our farm. Granny explained that she had prayed and that her prayers were fulfilled. I looked upon Granny’s countenance or face and it was filled with gladness and appreciation.

I had witnessed the destructive forces of nature the day before, but the next day, I witnessed the calm and serenity of nature. Without doubt, nature is beautiful and peaceful the majority of the time, but it often gives us early warnings about its destructive forces. Then we can prepare ourselves for nature’s storms.

We should compare nature with our day-to-day lives. Because in the game of life there will be mostly good times, but there will be some turbulent times also. We can prepare ourselves for the turbulent times of life by acquiring a religious faith and adhering to it when the turbulent times occur.

So, we were back at our farm the next day, which we had left the day before, in the wake of a storm (hurricane). My grandmother prayed the day of the storm for the preservation of the farm, which is what we saw the next day upon our return. It really shows that with prayer and faith we can influence the circumstances of our destinies.
