Feel free to forward this newsletter to your friends, family or anyone else you want to annoy. But

MY NONSENSE
It's been a while since I sent my newsletter. Did ya miss me? Well, I had a two week vacation during which I did absolutely no writing! I hang my head in shame for that; however, I did read everything I could find. I read THE CANYON LANDS by Morgan J. Blake (available from Novel Books http://www.novelbooksinc.com) a very good western, and THE L'AROBI FRAME
by E. L. NOEL, an excellent science fiction, (available at Writers Exchange E-Publishing http://www.writers-exchange.com/epublishing/.) (Read my review at http://www.knowbetter.com) I also read ON WRITING by Stephen King. It was very different from your usual writing books. Good read. (available darned near anywhere.) I read more, but don't want to bore you with the list.

My hubby and I also visited my youngest daughter and her husband in Wichita Kansas and had a wonderful time. I am, as we speak, preparing for my newest grandchild due the 8th of August and my upcoming chat for The Professional Connection: Chat Room For The Long Ridge Writer's Group. (Details under DON'T FORGET.)

Enough rambling. It's great talking to you again. Now on with the newsletter....
Jo

SCIENCE BLURBS

EUREKA MOMENTS
from The Boston Globe

Smart Drug

"A drug used to treat Alzheimer's disease may well improve memory for those
not stricken with the disease. While there's been a lot of controversy over
whether various so-called ''smart drugs'' can really increase the
intelligence of normal, healthy people..."
ref.: Neurology, July 9, 2002.

IT SLICES! IT DICES! NANOTUBE STRUTS ITS STUFF
from The New York Times

"BOSTON — It is stronger than steel and far sharper than a pin. It shoots
electrons and draws away heat. It can become the thinnest of wires and,
potentially, electronic devices almost as minuscule as molecules...
In the last decade, the cylindrical molecule of carbon known as a nanotube
has become a do-all wonder substance, touted for future use in everything
from X-ray machines to paint."

HYDROGEN-ONLY UNIVERSE? BORING
"Science Musings' from The Boston Globe
'If God did create the world by a word, the word would have been hydrogen,'
said the astronomer Harlow Shapley.'"
