It feels a bit weird not having written to you for a while but as you know, all my websites were hacked.
This is the first time this has happened since I've been online (1995) and it was seriously bad.
The malicious act kept us doing clean up for an entire month and now that things are back up working again, we are moving to a new host based on the poor response and customer service fail of our current host.
Part of that move will include changing the look and design of all my websites in the near future. If you've been following me for a while you know that we split things up a while back based on professional feedback and hope that you will find it amusing that we are reintegrating most everything under one roof again.
This means that the existing websites for some of the specific topics (such as the animal careers) will be return to ARKanimals. All of my other topical websites will become the teaching sites for our subscribers and students.
Anyway, this means you'll be able to jump on the correct list of interest from the ARKanimals pages dedicated to the specific topic in the not so distant future.
As for me, well - - I've been talking about starting the new hobby of birding for a while and it looks like I am starting to head that way.
So far, every one of my interests ends up being my career - - so we shall see how this goes! I keep trying to start something of interest that doesn't end up being work.
What is funny is that my nephew Sam (who is five) got on the phone with me not too long ago to inform me that I needed to work with birds.
That is all he had to say - - short and sweet and direct!
My sister laughs because he was telling her about this though for a whole month prior to the phone conversation.
So, it shouldn't have been a surprise when he took the phone from her, walked into another room and closed the door for privacy so he could tell me these thoughts.
As things would have it, a record event also took place around that time - - the first documented eagle chick in Forest Service history hatched not too far from my cabin.
In obedience to my nephew, I've made sure that I am keeping an "eagle eye" on the growing eaglet.
If you've been on my Facebook page you'll have seen the photos. My neighbor loaned me a scope but I seriously need a tripod and some better equipment so if you have any spares you want to donate to the cause - - drop me a line.
The Forest Service is hoping to set up a webcam and is seeking donations, which I find a bit odd but such is the animal world priorities these days.
Anyway, I hope you are heading into a great spring.
Have a great month and happy tails!

It is hard to believe that spring is finally here, especially since we had a storm last night that left ice mounds instead of water droplets. Fortunately, they melted and evaporated into steam late in the morning.
It was strange since the night before was the very first night I did not have to use the heater or fireplace. And then, bam! It got down below freezing again and I've had the fireplace going all day.
The big news around here is the Bald Eagle chick that hatched not too far from my cabin.
In fact, if I use a scope, I can see the nest from my deck and I've been spending a lot of free time watching him grow up.
It has been amazing to see him develop and change. In three days he doubled in size and over the past couple of weeks he has been looking more like an eagle rather than a chick.
My hope is that he decides to take flight on my birthday but this event could take place any time from the third week of April to about the middle of May.
Perhaps I'll have to start a poll to see who can guess the date.
In the meantime, I've been getting calls from people asking me to train again. The news is that I will be doing some tutorial videos and working on the training manual.
Although I am considering resuming the "Training the Trainer" course. I am currently unavailable.
In fact, it is hard to believe I am going to my animal training school reunion in early May.
The "Who's Who" will be showing up so it should be fun and I hope to take some photos for you.

If your pet business has a Facebook business page, you'll have discovered that you have been switched to timeline. The layout has caused some confusion but it ultimately will be a bit better.
Back in December, I began working with a new application to help manage contests but with all the changes we delayed the roll out until mid - April so that should be available in the near future. Of course, the first few business people who decide to give it a try will benefit from a reduced set - up fee.
If you are wondering just how you can morph over to the new design and learn how to utilize it, be sure to watch for the web - u - cation series I am doing. Your backsplash photo must adhere to some specific Facebook guidelines but you can include some important business information on it, plus add three applications that can help direct your audience to useful information and to specific calls to action.
There are two views about social networking aka social media - - it is important and it is useless.
For those who believe it is important, because it is social, it demands you participate, do so regularly, and share relevant information where your audience is. When it comes to social networking, quality over quantity is best and if you have someone helping you with it, you'll need to take action and establish a point of contact so it can be manage correctly.
For those who think it is useless, it really depends on your business and where your audience is or isn't. Plus, analytics can help prove a return on investment (time or money) and will reveal the truth.
