Want to know more about my and my writing? Join my newsletter. Newsletter Dated: 5/26/2002 3:38:52 PMSubject: Welcome to Deborah Turner's Newsletter Welcome. Thank you for signing up for this newsletter. I will be sharing news about my writing, my family, a recipe or two and some fun facts. Maybe even an interview with a fellow author. You just never know.
My book, If I Perish, was accepted by Publish America in March. It is now in the editing process. I am waiting with baited breath for my page proofs. If I Perish is an historical novel set in ancient Persia. For more on the book, please click on the Books link.
I found out a couple of weeks ago that an article on Ethiopian cuisine that I wrote will be published in Northwest Family magazine in August or September. You can preview the article here by clicking on the articles link.
Please look around my site and leave reviews of my work. I love to hear what you have to say!
My family is incredibly busy right now. My 17 year old daughter is graduating from Coupeville High School with honors. She plans to take a double major in History and Classical Studies with a minor in English at Hillsdale College. She just made the cheer team and gets to do two of her favorite things: stunt and gymnastics. She also writes and is nearly finished with her first science fiction novel. Her dreams are to be an archaeologist and a published author. Knowing her, I think she will accomplish both.
My 15 year old son, Kent, is endlessly fascinating to his mother. He is always doing something. He is a drummer/percussionist at school, playing in the Jazz Band, Pep Band, Marching Band, and Advanced Band (which took a second in a regional competition), as well as at church for worship services. When not beating on something -- my couch, my table, the kitchen counters -- he can be found drawing. He is quite the artist, having just completed painting all the sets for the latest High School play U.T.B.U.
Now that summer is nearly here, I will be spending much of my time by the side of the local pool while they swim. Not a bad way to write and get a tan at the same time! I'm working on my second novel, another historical set in 1888 New York City.
My husband is in sales and works from our home. I feel privileged to be able to look up from my work and see him every day.
So that's us, along with a small white Pomeranian/Maltese dog named Professor Henry Higgins (Higgins for short), and a large white Persian/Siamese cat aptly named Sassy.
Some of my favorite sites: If you are a writer looking for a good publisher I recommend Publish America (www.publishamerica.com).
