The "Whenever Newsletter" containing the wit and wisdom of LDS author Susan Law Corpany is put out several times a year, but not on any set schedule. You will find the stories behind the stories, excerpts from works in progress, humorous insights, ideas for how to avoid doing housework. In other words--whatever and whenever. (Just a touch of rebellion.) Subscription is free and free from the contraint of a publishing schedule, because after all, writers are under enough deadlines. Enjoy!

Subject: Susan Corpany Column - Was Mom Really Right?

My last two columns were about things Mom taught us that might not have been good advice. However, only one of them made it to the archives, so I only have the link to one of them.

I am also hosting an online Tupperware Party. It is my desire to send the invitations only to those like me who are Tupperware addicts, If you would like a copy of the invitation, please send me an e-mail at

They've got lots of cool new stuff. Remember those homemade icepops Mom used to make? Summer is here! A whole generation of kids have not been dripped on by mom's homemakde Kool-aid Popsicles. E-mail me for more possibilities.

Our trip to Utah was great! Rob and Jessica are now happily married. After the wedding, the rest of us took a trip down to Moab and spent some time exploring Arches and Canyonlands and just resting and recovering from the wedding "stuff." I recommend the post-wedding recovery trip for all parents, if there is any money left in the budget. We have five sons and four daughters, so we got off easy on this one (unless you count three airfares from Hawaii). We left Shawn in Utah for the summer, so he could enjoy some time with the sibs.

I picked up some kind of flu/cold bug at the end of the trip and things got worse before they got better, as often happens when you get on a plane already not feeling well. With any luck, I will probably be able to pick up my own germs from the stagnant airplane air on one of our next flights and be ready for round two. (I wish flying in your pajamas was an option for adults.) Then we had an enjoyable eight-hour layover in Honolulu due to the scarcity of inter-island flights to our island since the bankruptcy of Aloha Airlines. Eight hours of CNN is too much, even when your ears are plugged and you can't hear what Hillary and Obama are saying. I am now back among the living and grateful once again for the good health that we so easily take for granted when we have it.

Next month we are headed to California to enjoy Disneyland with Aaron and Lucy and little Lucy. We could not miss this opportunity to share Disneyland with our first grandchild. We highly suspect we are along as babysitters, but It's a Small World is about all my back can take these days anyway. We will likely be road-tripping after that, with stops in Seattle, Butte, and Salt Lake. Thom is teaching summer school until mid July, and then we can go play with the summer school money he makes. A great system!

Thanks to everyone who responded to the recent columns.
