The "Whenever Newsletter" containing the wit and wisdom of LDS author Susan Law Corpany is put out several times a year, but not on any set schedule. You will find the stories behind the stories, excerpts from works in progress, humorous insights, ideas for how to avoid doing housework. In other words--whatever and whenever. (Just a touch of rebellion.) Subscription is free and free from the contraint of a publishing schedule, because after all, writers are under enough deadlines. Enjoy!

Subject: Good News, Free Books and Lots of Other Stuff
The good news (drum roll please) is that Cedar Fort is going to publish my long-awaited novel Heaven Help Us! According to my best estimation, it should be out sometime late spring/early summer of next year.
I now realize that with my other four books I was supposed to tell people about the baby before it was born. Therefore, I am trying to create a buzz about my new book, but I need your help. For starters, the blogspot name "Shameless Self Promotion" was already taken. While I can do all I can on my own to get the word out, it says in the scriptures:
Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
In other words, God also believes "word of mouth" is the best form of promotion. And there's some implication about that humility thing in there, too, I suspect.
I have created a new blog where I am interviewing the characters from Heaven Help Us! My first interview is with Karen Donaldson, the main character. I have been trying this week to interview Bishop Parley, but he is such a busy man. Besides, as Karen's bishop/attorney he either cites attorney/client privilege or that bishop confidentiality thing, so he won't tell me much. I know I can get Olive Arletti to dish about Karen, though, so stay tuned.
As Karen says about the book, "It'll make you laugh. It'll make you cry. It'll make you snort root beer out of your nose."
I have also created another new blog where I will post my creative ideas. (We right-brain types are really good at starting things.) Check out the first in my series of gift-giving ideas. This humorous yet useful wedding shower gift will be the hit of the party.
My other blog is now going to be where I post things about my family and my life, so if you have any interest in either of those, pay it a visit. My most recent post was my "Birthday Blog," my thoughts about turning 54.
I now have all my books up on Amazon.com. The cover pictures are coming soon. There are links on the blogs listed above. They are also still available at the BYU Bookstore.
I have been remiss in getting out the word on my Meridian Columns of late, so rather than giving individual links, here is the link to the archive. Don't miss the most recent one "When Life Delivers," which was used as the cover story last week.
So about those free books, if you have read any of my books, I need reviews on Amazon.com. I will offer a free book to anyone who leaves a review for any of my four books, either there or at the BYU Bookstore site. Be honest. I am not trying to bribe you to give me a good review. I am trying to bribe you to give me a review, period. Personally, I think five stars are handed out way too freely and should be reserved for War and Peace and the like, but if you are feeling generous, who am I so squelch your good will? Four reviews = four books. So you already have the books? Then give them to your mother for Christmas. I'll sign them to whomever you designate. I'll even mail them directly to the recipient.
Pass along links to my column archives or blogspots to at least ten of your friends. Post something about my writings on Facebook or Twitter. Bear your testimony about how my books changed your life. (Okay, just kidding on that one.) Link my blog to your blog. Use your imagination. Do something, anything, to help me get the word out, and I will reward you with a free postage-paid autographed copy of the book of your choice (written by me.) Write and tell me what you have done at firstname.lastname@example.org and give me the address where you would like your book shipped and which one you would like.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to read this. Thanks for your support. Without readers there would be no writers. I am going to send this now before I accidentally erase it for the third time.
