Happy Hello Dear Readers,
Election activity involving “getting out the vote” has kept me occupied the last four days, but writing activity is soon to go into full force again. On November 10, ABC - CLIO will send the second batch of proof pages for Women in Combat. They must be sent back on November 19. This round is mostly checking for accuracy because during the first round, changes were acceptable. On the same day that I turn in the proof pages, the indexer sends the index. The fact that I do not have to index like I did for McFarland, makes me VERY happy to be free of that most labor intensive task. From then on, I don’t have to do much except perhaps to respond to any final corrections. On December 16, the book goes to the printer. So that’s where the book’s progress stands.
My three presentations at the Multicultural Coalition one day conference in Grand Island, Nebraska went very well. The two breakout sessions were on Afghanistan. The keynote was on the Cuban family with an emphasis on diversity. If you would like to read the excellent coverage by the Grand Island Daily Independent as well as view some pictures of me giving the speech, please visit the link

I have some unfulfilled requests to review work of other authors that I hope to squeeze in after the proof pages. This fall has been so very busy, but in spite of that, I’ve actually done some Castle cleaning. I am also awaiting a response on a book proposal.
Thank you for your support of my work.
Cheers, R
