Remembering the Days...

Nestled on a self, lies a tiny wood box.
Sheltered by cobwebs and dust.
Within the square frame
photo’s lie
resting..
A conscience reminder,
Of childhood memoir.
Portraying the Family
Tree, a branch of
loved ones
past
on.
Blind to the eye of a child
is a contagious disease.
All grown up, now
I realize this
was their
demise.
Days of reckless bingeing, purge
their troubles away. A
way of life this
came to
be.
Revisiting the chest, rusty
hinges creak my pain.
I hear their voices
loud, slurred,
and raising
cain.
Shedding a tear I place the little
Treasure of memories quietly
back in it’s place. Am glad
I can say “I learned how
to live a different
Way.”

Alcoholism is a hardship, which some people don't realize, they are inflicting pain upon their family, and passing on a dangerous life style.
