I walked in the door, in the usual way
Just as I always do, after working all day
I called to my wife, telling her I was home
Then I noticed the note, sitting there by the phone

I smiled to think what she might have to say
She so often does nice things, to brighten my day
But as I started reading, the words written there
My body went numb, I sat down in the chair

She said, “Leaving this note for you, seems out of place.
But there are things I must say, but can’t say to your face
So many good years, I’ve spent here with you
But I’m afraid that it’s over, I’ve found someone new

It’s nothing you’ve done, the fault is all mine
You too will find someone, just give it some time
I always have loved you, and always will care
But I just need to know, what is for me out there…”

Just then I woke up, and sat straight up in bed
I then realized this letter, was all in my head
There next to me on the bed was my wife
Lost in her dreams, the love of my life

I layed down beside her, she opened her eyes
Looked at me and said, “What’s wrong with my guy?”
I said, “Go back to sleep, everything is just fine”
And I held her close, in these two arms of mine

As I lay there I wondered if I do all I can
To give her the things that she needs from her man
Perhaps I don’t give her as much as it seems
Sometimes the best lessons are found in our dreams

I guess there is a reason why we dream what we do. Some of my dreams I wish would come true but some I'm so happy they are just dreams. Most of my day dreams are positive. I think a dream like you describe in this good poem is a positive, because it just prompts you to consider what you have and not to just take it for granted. It's good for you to know how lucky you really are.
