"I should have heeded my intuition / The gain of orthodoxy was my loss... // As a theologian I guess they were right / ...But I wish I could talk to you"

Transcendental Sonnet #1260:

How I Wish I Had That Ouija Board Tonight

Faust and Mephistopheles

Our parochial-school teachers told him

That Ouija boards are bad

(I am not their pupil so they scold him)

Now how I wish I had

Not put on such a show

To demonstrate I know

The orthodox Lutheran position

Breaking it making the Sign of the Cross

I should have heeded my intuition

The gain of orthodoxy was my loss

How I wish I had that Ouija board tonight

And now my son would wish it too

As a theologian I guess they were right

...But I wish I could talk to you

Well we were taught that we should not play around with the Ouija board but we had one. My daughter and her friends conjured up the ghost of JFK the first one and it scared them.
