"Looking back... and forward: into your eyes"

Essence

After so many years here we are now
I for one never thought I would make it
Always thinking I would die young somehow

Life seemed so hard once! "How could I take it
For all those years we are expected to?"
I asked knowing I could never fake it
The way middle-aged people did (and do)
But as it turned out it was not half bad

"Getting there is half the fun" as they say
And all of those catastrophes I had
Seem more like adventures along the way
Looking back... and forward: into your eyes

I see I am still me reflected here
The essence of who we are never dies
As I find myself in your eyes today
The same as I was except for the fear
Which time like the tide has polished away

It took me a long time to realize
But I am here to live and to love you
I hope that as you live you love me too

Sorry, I didn't get to read the poem. I got distracted by the picture. LOL!

Seriously, this is a beautiful reflection on our life, past; present; and future, whatever that holds. Well done.
God Bless,
Lew

amazing. .. [look at THAT chiaroscuro art; its like the two are one flesh, everything else fades] your write was so tender, and how we encapsulate and enrapture another human being, another human, just BEing.... the line between what is real and surreal in us is blurred by your words. ..what are we but another's love? what are we but our love itself? its the only thing that lives and breathes after we do not. .. .
wonderful post
