I. Rapid-Cycling Bipolarity

An uprising doomed for a downfall
Rapid-cycling bipolarity
Could very well be the death of me

In the ups and the downs of it all
As poisonous as it is painful
Turning unending as unbegun
When happy and sad are disdainful
Of one another as two in one

Racing lest one should be left behind
Outrunning each other leaving none
But me somewhat bereft of my mind

After the laughter tears after all
An uprising doomed for a downfall

II. Paranoid Schizophrenia

Paranoia is not how I
Like to live now before I die
A schizophrenic universe
Of fear too near death to live by
With paranoia haunting me
To fetter the better for worse

Not now not how I want to be
Nor fear for here now to be free
Above the ground beneath the sky
In existential equipoise
Is what I want without the noise
Not sympathy but empathy

At least to walk if not to fly
If not to run at least to try

III. Psychosis

Psychosis is like heroin
Is how I might begin
To explain the pain if I could
Of this diagnosis
But be misunderstood again

Then do-si-dosed when psychosis
Diagnostically
In inexplicability
Knows only does not know
Knows only its lonely gnosis

Like heroin like so

The maximum the all the way
Though what may come no not today

"To explain the pain...." I see how you define it but don't let it define you. I salute you for this!

Love ya!

Delicate lines of expression, Steven! Two new words for me: "equipoise and gnosis." How I enjoy learning new words. This writing swirls conditions like marble, and the pattern is so very clear. I feel a brave sadness in these lines, starting with the very first one. Then, "After the laughter tears after all" and "Knows only does not know" -- the whole texture of this literary triptych is exquisite. ~~ Diana
