DarkLight (A response to Justin D'Souza's Challenge)

A response to Justin's challenge of using colors of light and darkness to create a life canvass with a deeper message. I used some lines from the old masters as a heavy spice in this dark dish.

The "Angry Fairy" is original artwork done by my daughter Jessicah Joy... age 15.

Who's world is this? I think I know.
His image holds a tarnished glow.
Though some say he has horns and tail...
He's been cast down from high to low.

This world is lovely... dark and deep.
and though my soul he tries to keep...
He gains it not though here I dwell.
In thought and deed he does crawl and creep.

He paints his will with muddied brush.
The silent few do gasp and hush.
This spinning ball, his canvass cracked.
The gates are wide to contain the rush.

Do not go gently into that night.
Rage we must against dying light.
For there's miles to go before we sleep.
Use Truth and Love to counter blight.

So place your darks like mud and sludge.
And dab your lights... He'll be the Judge.
With colors bright our sins are hidden.
But they are not changed. Despite the grudge.

Ages pass as humanity yearns.
Yet fists are raised... desire burns.
Yet still God loves us though we scorn.
Embracing the liar as the world turns.
