Just taking some time to stop and "smell the roses". I take too much for granted. Thought I'd take a step back and look at it with a calmer... more appreciative eye.

Here's a picture I took of my daughters back in 95. It's one of my favorites!

Lightning strikes those brown hills green.
The thunder announces the power.
Rain on my skin creates silver sheen
What wonders I've seen at this hour!

The wind at my brow, a continuous kiss...
like invisible angel's wings.
The leaves journey by though nothing's amiss.
Such wonders to us nature sings!

The clouds overhead cover moon cover sun.
Every moment a painting to meld.
The clouds break apart then converge into one.
What mysteries today I beheld!

Snow trickling to cricks to creeks and to streams...
From rivers to lakes then to sea.
The fog and the mist, the geisers and steam
Such miracles created for me!

My wife in the garden. The girls on the swing.
The gems in my pond look like fish.
Birds making nests chirping in the ravine.
What possibly more could I wish?

The stars in the night so vast do I spy.
Since ancient of days do they shine.
Their light makes more stars in the tears of my eye.
Unworthy yet blessed am I!

What a gorgeous awakening poem, Michael! My favorite line:

"The clouds overhead cover moon cover sun."

So exquisite in its simplicity, yet almost aching in its complexity.

You make a very good point in this touching piece. I know I missed some moments when my children were growing up. I am just grateful that I did not miss them all. Love and peace, Regis.

Michael this is a fantastic poem..the girls are so adorable...but this verse for me says it all....

"My wife in the garden. The girls on the swing.
The gems in my pond look like fish.
Birds making nests chirping in the ravine.

Blessed, indeed! A peaceful place you've found, and how well you write about it. Thank you.
