Chipped paint, faulty wiring

and broken desks sit

in one tiny classroom.

Chipped paint, faulty wiring

and broken desks sit

in one tiny classroom.

Too many students.

Too few books.

Two job-carrying parents

of latch key kids who desire nothing

more than a free lunch.

They hate, without knowing,

the teachers who dare to care.
