Her lies

Her lies were all that mattered.


One lie after another

That’s what she said.

But to her -

They were her truths

And that was all that mattered.

 

The fact that each word she spoke

Cut me deeper and deeper

And pushed me farther and farther away

Didn’t bother her in the least.

 

Her truths were all that mattered.

 

Until she was all alone.

Then…she painfully realized

When I said goodbye,

It was not a lie.

Some people are compulsive liar, I know this because I was married to one for 16 years. I wasn't lying when I kicked him to the curb. Good job on this poem, I enjoyed it very much.
