September Morning

I dedicated September Morning to my grandmother Mildred, who passed September 1,1991. My mother Katherine, passed away the morning of September 4,1992. I believe my mother was reunited with her two young children she sadly lost in the 1950's. And, her late husband John, who passed in 1966. All three my mother loved and missed terribly until her death. In loving memory of my very best friend Sherry, passed September 27,1993. This poem is from my book, The Last Child.

The King appeared wearing His crown and His arms

were extended wide. Come ye daughter and fear not,

I remember your name not your shame. I love you,

I cast no blame. My promise is to answer, when you knock.

September Morning peacefully found rest in the King's

glorious hands. Heavenly forces commanded the best

ten thousand angels together standing on white fluffy clouds,

singing Hallelujah out loud.

The King was sitting upon His magnificent white horse with

a gold sword by His side. The angels gracefully bowed before

our lord. No more will you be bound to this world of sorrow,

paradise will now be your tomorrow that you live in today

and forever.

Like a sparrow, September Morning was carried away by

heavenly wings. Somehow, I knew you were gone to be

with Carol, Carl and John rapture up in the misty dawn.

Angels happily blew their horn  to alert the kingsmen to open

the pearly gates. September Morning formed a smile.

Meanwhile, down here on the ground I was left to mourn and wait.
