Want to Change the World?
By
Bill Cottringer
So, something is brewing,
Deep inside your soul,
Not yet clear in your mind,
Just raging feelings of a kind,
Thoughts coming and going:
The need to change the world?
Righting all the hurtful wrongs,
Making the pain go away?
But first slow down,
Take a little time,
Understand something—
First things first;
See what is really right,
And what is really wrong,
As it might surprise you;
Then restore some balance,
From less useless pain,
To more useful gain,
Turning your sadness,
Into their gladness,
With some patience,
One at a time,
Picking the right things,
Using the best approach,
Understanding destructive things,
Hidden in the secret language,
Of words and metaphors,
That serves only the pain,
And then replacing them,
With powerful, productive ones,
Offering the new hope,
Finally moving forward,
One step at a time,
Collecting believers,
Strengthening commitment,
Getting results,
One at a time.
Before you know it,
You suddenly see progress,
Which happens gradually,
Overnight.
One at a time,
Until the ones become many,
And we reach our common dream—
Living the Land of Good and Plenty,
Where it all started long ago.
