In loving memory of an old friend

Dreaming

I must be dreaming, how can this be,

the last time I saw you Bob, was 1973.

How can this be, you were 50, now I'm 53.

That doesn't matter, it doesn't matter at all,

I'm just so glad you came to see me.

There were so many things I wish I had said,

like the time you made me that hand made bed,

It was the prettiest, I always said.

You know you were the only adult that ever loved me

at that time, you gave me confidence, and you made

me believe,

I could be anything I wanted to be, so I proved you right

and earned my engineering degree.

I love you Bob, I miss you to this day,

please wait for me I will see you soon some day.

Wow! Love the details and how you put into writing things that many people experience, but for whatever reason never express. This is a warm poem.
