your first step into the big world can be a journey every minute.

What is it
that makes me look at him so
Is it his tall physique
or his broad shoulders
is it the common country stance
the ute
the singlet shirt
and the combat cargos
or the cap
is it his browned skin
He isn't a 'pretty boy'
or a 'bush pig'
he isn't even aware of me
not really
You meet him in the most uncommon place
Who knew the red cross wasn't just a place to give blood
but then you get shy
Is it because you have been hurt before
or because he's a coast boy
and a 'coast boy' has a reputation
I don't know what it is
But at one point you're looking at him
like he's all you can think about
And the next
your eyes meet for the briefest
before you look away
Too shy
It's all of these things and more
but mostly
it's his eyes
it's always their eyes
deep
mysterious
hypnotising
curious and safe
I could stare at them for hours
but when he see's my eyes
I turn away
I'm afraid
-What does he see?
