A Misty Day

Waiting for rain during a drought

A Misty Day

The morning loomed dull

Cloudy and wet

My mind was racing

I was so upset

It wasn’t raining – just yet

No more than a mist

The road slippery

The air cool

All I could see

Were puddles on the ground at school

No, no rain – just yet

No more than a mist

The forecast gloomy

For the next day or two

We need it badly

To live it’s a must

But no rain – just yet

No more than a mist

The sound of tyres

The screech of brakes

As the trucks slide

Any which way

But no rain – just yet

No more than  a mist

Then thunder came

And lightning flashed

Loud and booming

Like the fear in my heart

Yet still no rain – just yet

No more than a mist

When suddenly

It came down

My heart was ready to burst

No more pain

This broke the chain

Gone, was the infernal mist

The rain is often therapeutic and healing not just for the land but for the human soul. Thank you, Denise. Blessings to you,

Regis
