Whip me to a lather
with your sour sarcastic tone,
slice and dice me with your words
that crush me like a stone.

Spread acidic slander
as you cut me down to size,
sprinkle bitter rumors
and then garnish that with lies.

Mix in cups of salty tears
of things better unsaid,
pour in rancid memories
from things long buried, dead.

Dish it out while it is hot
as hot as you can make it,
now I know the recipe
let's see if you can take it.

~ Connie ~

Beloved, never avenge yourselves,
but leave it to the wrath of God;
for it is written,
"Vengeance is Mine,
I will repay,
says the Lord."
(Romans 12:19 RSV)

Hello Connie,

Wow! Such a "cutting" recipe for a vile and vicious salad. Unique and superb!

Hi Connie...what a recipe! However, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord..." is the best way of revenge, of course! :)

God Bless

Omygosh! This leaves me choking on the acid. And then, what a switch when I read the quote from the Bible at the end. We are so quick to feel vengeful, but ah, there is a better solution--forgive, put it in God's hands, and go on. Thanks for reminding us.

So powerful, you have the perfect poem for revenge, and I know you'd never use it. But oh the temptation ...Superb Connie!

I had two occasions this week where my advise is similar to yours. Do not give in to revenge. Least said soon remedied. One agreed and problems will be solved, one didn't and problems increased.
