Bendable Absolute
There are few things in life that are absolute
The most changeable of all is absolute truth.
What was true yesterday may be proven false tomorrow
For morals change with each new idea we borrow.
Whether from friend or from foe we give little care
As long as they grant us the right to do whatever we dare.
We follow along blindly with whatever whim.
We give little thought that might require action
Because our laziness is easier and less painful
And it doesn’t interfere with our worldly distraction.
We refuse to examine what we see, hear or read or take a stand
Or even to pondering an issue until we fully understand.
So we merrily race down the path to destruction
And willingly take part in our society’s deconstruction.
Dishonoring those who died for our rights is only a symptom
But no one dares to speak of the final outcome
The ruin of us all at hands that are our own
Like Egypt and Rome and numerous other as history has shown.
So bury you head as you watch our world changing for the worse
And remember that the die will be cast by our own blessing or curse.
