GANG BOY
by JOHNNY TAI - SMILE TIGER or JST
June 25, 2001
Every night, I walk along this drunk street,
Looking for things that I don't need:
Cigarette buts, beat-up kids, and girls that are pretty.
Blind and deaf in this heartless city...
Everyone calls me a gang boy,
And say that a ruined life's my joy.
I never have to explain or be coy,
Since they're too busy to be annoyed...
If you'd stop for a sec and listen to my story,
You'd see that common, neglected fantasy:
I just want to love,
Want a truthful heart,
But they've disappeared into the darkened history...
If you ask why can't I ever stand still,
My answer's that time makes scars painful...
The woman whom I've loved,
Was all that I've got,
And now that she's gone, I'm back on the road...
They say that one day I'll regret,
But I already no that life's not great...
I move from place to place
To hide the embarrassing aches...
Call me a bastard, call me names;
They won't hurt, since I have nothing then...
I'd rather take it to the end,
So life may start all over again...
AUTHOR'S WORDS:
Have you ever stop a gangster on the street and ask him about his life? If you have, then the poem shall sound somehow familiar to you...
