Alone I Stand

Megan Lutz

Alone I stand, wind in my hair, tears running down my face.
I can taste the salt from both the sea air and my tears, on my tongue.
Memories flitter past my eyes, and deep down I feel guilty and dirty.
Nights turn into a blur,
As feelings of love turn to hate and bitterness.
I stand-alone.

I look down the face of the barrel.
Long and narrow just like life.
I can smell the power, it smells wonderful.
The feelings that I hold, could be shot away,
Just with one pull of the trigger.

I stand-alone at night.
Walking the long track, back to my private hell.
As the darkness eats up my footsteps,
The world slowly eats my soul.
I am not who I used to be, I used to have friends.
Now, I am something different, someone who is all alone.
And I am not scared of this,
I actually welcome this.

We are so immersed, like the Phoenix, we arise from the ashes of love's death only 2 be caught in it's cycle again.

For Nil Consideration by Dave Brooks

The first in a series of books based around the fictional Sheraton Moss estate in Teesside... only this story actually happened! Based on the real life events of a traumatised teen..
