its an effort made for a little poetical play to be enacted at college never did this before so dont know how to pen it down exactly but i'll try to convey my thoughts.thx

characters are an old woman, herself in younger days, and her friends then; a guy and a girl.

the characters all through the enaction just emote on stage and dont speak whereas verbal part is being spoken from behind stage.

scene 1
the old woman walks on stage(soft mellow music plays behind)

"I stroll down these lonely lanes
without reason,purpose or aim.
every unwilling step i take
brings back memories
both clear and vague.
the wind blows
plays a sad tune
as my heart mourns
beneath the silver moon.

as life goes on
there are things we forget
but somehow somewhere
we're reminded of all the things
we once loved.
joy or tears
but they do bring along
happiness or regrets of decisions went wrong.
i walk crushing the leaves of memory
trying to evade their cries
but deep downinside
part of me wants to go back
and live again
part of me still hurts
and brings tears to my eyes."

the old woman goes at the back of stage and stands still
enter 2 friends one is the old woman herself in her younger days the other her friend and they compliment each other in a jovial mood.

youre a rare flower
that blooms once in ages
iam blessed to be one of the few
who in thier life got to know you

youre the winter sunshine
for a numb heart
always there to melt my hassles away
you know all the right things to say

believe me as i say this today
no matter where you are
or how far i saty

no matter the distance
how often we meet
youre a friend
i'll always keep

even if we go our own ways
in reminiscence of lifes old days
your memory will be foreve new
friend theres no one like you

the 2 freinds saying this now stand still center stage and the old woman walk in front and says

the one and only
angel i knew
the sparkle in the wet dampening dew
i shared my hopes and dreams
a spirit god had sent
shared my life and soul
my one and only friend

scene changes friends off stage and old woman again at back of stage

from on side of stage the friends walk in and from other a guy.
walking past each other they say
guy-glowing face
like the morning sun
emerald eyes are you the one?

girl-playing with fire
can go beyond fun
restrain your desire
or you will burn.

both stand still now and the old woman walks up next to them and says

a conflict of eyes
conjured a spark
and set ablaze
my lonely heart

STAGE EMPTY
scene changes with a bench center stage on which the girl sits reading a book
guy walks past and the wordings are(remember character dont speak only emote voice comes from backstage)

from your heart to mine
thoughts fly like birds
my heart is drenched in wine
it dont need no words

walkin past he stands behind the bench
wordings-
will you be that soft breeze
blowing through my hair
soaking all my worries
whispering how much it cares
.
will you be that golden ray of light
that trickles down the trees
and makes life sprout
in the darkest spaces beneath.

will you be all that and much more
will you be all ive ever dreamt for?

saying this in an old fashoined way he kneels down and offers a rose

characters freeze in position and the old woman walks in front and says

its a moment frozen
safe in my soul
that moment
when my heart he stole

the whole stage empty now in darkness old woman voice heard from behind

life was roses
till one dusk
heaven decided
to test my trust

stage divides into two sets on one side old woman in her younger years just offered a rose now sits there in wait when a frind walks by and says

i had heard many times
love is innocent
love is blind
but to what extent
i see today
hes off with your rind
while you wait here in vain

scene freezes and old woman walks in says

stunned at first
i was convinced at last
if i didnt act now
id lose it fast

the other half of stage shows the guy and the friend just talked about standing and conversing as the focus shifts form first half of stage to the second you hear the conversation.

we're lucky indeed
to have her in our life
for her this time
lets have some fun surprise

the character of the old woman in youth walks in and emotes on

when youre love is untrue
and friends betray
its over for me
i have no complaints

pointing towards her friend

you a lier in disguise
and a deciet like such
if did not suffice
pray for my demise
i wont be surprised

the scene freezes and once again the old woman is back on stage and says

hell hath no fury like a woman scorned they say
but whats the world to do if she'll always want her way

i was in love
and totally blind
but more than that
i was a lover without mind

my friend
my loe
all was gone
trusted a stranger
and my life torn
one by one the stars had gone
and then by the breaak of dawn
a lover died and a poet was born

stage empty

then a bench center stage with the guy and girl sitting one end each the girl withe her grandmother

guy emotes on-
years gone by
and its still so tough
everytime i try
to express my love
doesnt seem to differ
from the day that we met
we've known each other
but not what we felt

oh!but for matters misunderstood
the ifs and buts , the shoulds and coulds
if only words from lips could leap
as of now our hearts could meet
if only eyes could really speak
my love wouldnt have been so weak
we both just seem to sit and wait
for an invitation never made.

to this the girl emotes on-
a barren terrain now rules
where emotions and feelings once bloomed
hot gusts of wind from fire
blow in place of cool zephyr
like the wrinkles on my grandmas face
cracks adorn my heart
with so much of this empty space
i know not where to start.
parched by the sun of loneliness
dejection set in soon.
the desire to be soaked in love again
has long been overruled.

scene freezes
old woman walks on and says

silken sand slipped through my fingers
you'll hold me hand the hope just lingered
the sun went down and with it the hopes

stage becomes dark and then further

tender caressess of the breeze
mild roaring of the sea
one in one with the sand
on a heavy heart i opened my hand

with a whiff of wind
off it blowed
all the past
i did hold

gone but forever unchanged
time wont be the same
not now or again
my heart will never beat the same

now the whole stage lightens up and the old woman walks on and speaks to the audience

we love and care
never put it to words
for some one a few lines
can mean the world

i was blessed with eyes
but i failed to find
in my friends
the soul behind

i was blessed with speech
but i failed to speak
where only words
could have proved their worth

there is no use to remorse now
but there are way things work
and i want to tell you how

rain set lose
from the grips of sky
never climbs up again
into the lap of haze

water flowing
from under the bridge
never crosses again
the path once traversed

time does not go back
to the moment you skipped a heart beat
in case you want to live it again
and not miss it this time

time does not go back
to the pleasant moments you wish to live in for eternity
and be merged in them forever
like oil in paint

time does not go back
to the moments you took a wrong turn
in case you want to change paths
because you altered your whole life

time does not go back
life is a path of no return.

lights off end of enaction.(thanks for your time and patience)
