Soldiers Know

Soldiers Know

Soldiers know nothing of politics,
but only know two things:
Rules of engagement, and
the quest to stay alive,
one more day --
day by day --
one more day!

Soldiers know about religion, and
believe in eternal soul:
they've got to, when
the body's been shot to hell.
The healing comes slowly,
day by day -- one day at a time.

Soldiers know everything about pain,
it comes in a multitude of forms:
physical, spiritual, psychological,
eternal --
in some form or another,
it never goes away.

Soldiers know about sacrifice, and
about duty, but still,
for their children's lives,
they'd do it all again!

How well you can see through the heart and soul of a dedicated soldier, very moving and deep piece....

Be always safe,

And again, and again. It's in their genes and used by the greedy to perfection. It's always been them or us... Much better them than us. We've got religion.

Ron

I would fight to protect my family, too. But hope it never comes to that.

DAMN straight, we'd do it again and again and again. Know I would, if the body would let me and I was about 25 years younger ... daughter, sister, niece, cousin of Veterans (all branches). These heroes paved the way for my own military service (USAF). God bless those who serve(d)!!!! Powerful poem, Dallas. Yes. Indeed.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Yes they know these things and the pain goes on and on. Your poem brought my tears. Sacrifice in this greedy world is often like pouring light down a black hole. The unappreciation hurts as much as the wounds.
