The Talking ATM Machine

During the holidays, I was fortunate enough to have 4 teenagers as house guests. Their ages were from 9 thru 14. They were wonderful, energetic little eating machines, and still, after spending a few hundred bucks for food and presents of books, games, etc., I found myself running to the ATM so often that I thought I'd write about what that machine would say if it could talk! I imagined that I could hear it talking to me each time that I visited it. The following is what the machine said:

Visit 1: Have a nice day! Visit 2: More money? Sure! Happy holidays. Visit 3: Hmm, unexpected guests? Visit 4: Ouch! You again? Visit 5: Dang! You've gotta be kidding! Visit 6: Grrrr! You've really got some nerve! Visit 7: Are you sure that you're who you say you are? You've been here 7 times this week already. Visit 8: Warning, warning! How low will you go, lady? Visit 9: Gee dear, I see that you are truly an optimist! Visit 10: Who told you that you had more money in this account? Visit 11: What are you doing with your money? Are you using it for toilet paper? Visit 12: That's it! Here's the balance of your little money! Adios! Good bye! Don't come back unless you're making a deposit! Good luck ... you really need good luck ... and two jobs! Copyright © 2003 by Gwen Dickerson Happy New Year A.D. members!

I believe mine would even say O V E R S P E N T this year.......
This is a great one for so many this time of the year and I wish I were lucky enough to have had four teenagers with five grown kids all on their own makes life a bit lonely at times. Thank you for sharing.

May I add to "Visit 12" that you are definitely an angel to have indulged four teenagers in this challenging day and age:-) A great poem from a great pen.
