Birthday Poem to My Sister

The title says it all.

Today I must make-up something happy to say

Ok, Ok, after all it is my sister's birthday

Have we been the perfect of sibling to one another

Of course not, but really have other sisters and brothers

During my younger years

I used to feel birthday cards, Christmas gifts and obligatory calls were ahhh so fake

But age has obviously presented me with knowledge

A form of tolerance not provided from college

My sister, like me, has always wanted love

We searched and searched thru many people to find the symbolic dove

Figuring others would be better providers of this emotion, than that smoothed on us by our parents’ empty bottle of lotion

As the end grows near

It is no longer an embarrassment to say

I do love my sister

On the day of her birth and each and every other day

What a beautiful gift. I hope your sister got this. My words cannot do justice. Love and peace to you, Patricia.
