DECEPTION
The Spiral Road
~:~
It should come as no surprise.
That there is
Deception so vast it is only seen in perspective.
And
Deception so tiny it roils the soul.
There is
Deception so sublime it floats about unnoticed,
And
Deception so ignored it will prove the root of genocide.
It should come as no surprise.
That there is
Deception so sudden there can be no cure.
And
Deception so well crafted it cultivates arrogance.
There is
Deception free of regret that feeds the appetite of evil.
And
Deception of a kind to make millions march.
It should come as no surprise.
That there is
Deception so costly the rich grow poor.
And
Deception of a kind to render lovers strangers.
There is
Deception causing youth to mimic old
And
Deception to make the old look foolishly young again
~:~
It should come as no surprise.
That there is
Deception of necessity to slay an adversary.
And
Deception of power to feign the gods.
There is
Deception of wealth to gamble with death.
And
Deception of fate that will win out in the end.
It should come as no surprise,
That there is
Deception of philanthropy but the mirror of greed.
And
Deception of honesty to be everlasting.
There is
Deception of religion to stand for the righteous
And
Deception of truth that is to be unquestioned.
It should come as no surprise.
That
Death be the deceiver,
And
Youth the deceived.
For
What is deception
But
The perception of evil or good.
Thus
Whichever slay the Hydra,
Shall
Covet the Fountains of Youth.
Those Fountains that
Lay
. . .
Beneath the Quarry Waters
