The poem that guides the reader through my novel, Gone Away, Into the Land

This Poem leads Gone Away through its parts

stanza by stanza

Guardian of the Precepts

Meandering events of my life

Grow as a moss upon me.

I am surrounded

By translucent walls built of my failings.

Shored by Foundations formed of my fears.

Walls that shield me

From the harsh remembrances of my youth.

My thoughts mingle with the stillness,

A winter storm bares its teeth.

The icy snow

Strikes my fragile windowpanes.

The wooden walls of my house

Push hard

Against the abusive beast,

His long fingers

For a way inside.

A BridgeWay is building,

A ceremonious harmony

Between my thoughts

And the absence of breath within my lungs.

I feel compelled

To open the gates,

To lay bare the emotions

That have whispered in my ear.

Am drifting.

Into a childhood place

I have dared not go.

A place

Where memories

Within me

Lies a primordial sense of comfort,

Blanketing me with warmth,

Beckoning me

Into a realm of contentment.

The time has come.

My battle against fear and oppression.

My liberation

From abuse and subjugation have arrived.

Smiles fill my heart.

Still I stand at the station

Listening for the approach of illumination.

I gaze behind me at the winter storm.

I know it is coming.

The locomotive of my life

Will soon roar from a

Mountainside tunnel,

And carry me into the

Light of my Land.
