My Son

I looked at a photo of you today
When you were just a boy
When all you wanted to do was play
With your favourite toy

I turned the page and you’d matured
Your boyish looks were gone
Standing tall and self assured
No longer a cygnet, but a swan

Now you’ve grown into a man
You fill my heart with pride
You help anyone when you can
My love I cannot hide

So, carry on along your way
A path that is straight and true
Just remember everyday
I am so proud of you.
