Blackbird

Blackbird

The Blackbird
no Eagle
but still he can fly
why no applause
as he ascends into sky
the eagle all awe
and ooh as he soars
the blackbird unnoticed
dismissed by the eye
blackbird can fly
just not as high
but few take notice
of his passage of sky
the eagle and monarch
the sky it doth rule
the blackbird
mere peasant
with wings of a fool
clown by comparison
yet none should
so state
for each soars in
mystery
beyond man's debate
since few know such mysteries
that rule flight and height
comparison is foolish
remaining only fools art
for both creatures have wings
and both do yes fly
so how high matters not
nor does regal display
rather the air
they share
and do both wear in flight
compare not my noble fouls
a voice thunders forth
for one is for soaring
the other for flight
compare not
the creatures
dwelling high above you
for your sight
is diminished
for from ground you do view
but here
up on high
where the clouds are
formed floor
the blackbirds the eagle
and soars as a lord
both seer and watchman
sentinel alike
created in mystery
unnoticed in flight
masquerading in
plain towel
not regal at all
known only to
those few
who see both
great
and yes small
for the eye of the fool
sees only sparkle
and burst
whilst the wise man
sees all
that's
been birthed upon earth
so see well with the eye
I do say to all
for the seer shall soar
while the fool
surely falls

You fly~!!
"compare not my noble fouls
a voice thunders forth
for one is for soaring
the other for flight..." ...and a pox on anyone who would clip its wings. (Any of ours!!) Phyllis:)

I love the subtlety of your rhyme and the images you evoke. Rodney I dare not try to put in words the admiration I have for your work for fear my stumbling efforts will show me for talentless wretch I am. Mal.

This was excellent, I loved these words:

for the eye of the fool
sees only sparkle
and burst
whilst the wise man
sees all
that's
been birthed upon earth

such a powerful message in this wonderful poem,

Loved it,
