Standing Together

America awoke
from a sound slumber.
An awesome giant,
awakened by thunder.

It wasn’t a storm,
but a terrorist plot.
That took many lives
and invaded our thoughts.

Many watched in horror
as the towers fell
An American icon
with a story to tell.

The Pentagon was also
hit by a plane.
As part of the plot
for the terrorists gain.

And lets not forget
the plane off course
The passengers fought back
With an awesome force.

Many adults and children
Died a horrible death
As they sat that day
In a plane marked for death.

Many shattered hopes
and dreams that died.
A nation in mourning
and grieving inside.

Over three-thousand people
From different lands,
Died that day
By terrorists hands.

I write this today
with tears in my eyes.
But know that our nation
Is astute and wise.
