This piece touches on the women behind the heartache. And how she maintains for only a moment before breaking.

If only people could see the life I live
If they could see the bruises
That cover a large percentage of my body
If they could see what I thought was love
Then maybe they won't smile so much
Or act so cheerful
No one seems to know the secret I have
The one I wish was a secret to me
I wish I could go some where peaceful
Without pain
No, I am not saying I want to die
Because dying is the easy way out
I just want peace
Is there something wrong with that
Just one night without a broken nose
Or one night without his harsh words Tearing down my self-esteem
See no one wants to believe that I
Someone who seems like she has good sense
A woman with strong educational background
Allow a man to inflict pain and bruises
To my heart and my physical statue
I can't continue to cover every bruise with make-up
Because it hurts too much to face what's real
I've tried to find a logical explanation why I stay
But I keep coming up with nothing
Which tells me plain and clear
Exactly what this relationship is worth
NOTHING
