When life seems a struggle and you feel out of breath, if you but just held about, surely you would see hard work's clout.. |

A toil never amounted to nought, no matter how severe the drought
If you but seek within your own life plot, delve each destiny's onslaught
Hold to scrutiny each moment you were caught, in a web of despair and doubt
With grit if you just held about, surely you would see hard work's clout.
No better paradigm can I offer you but, travails of mine
That threshed me, tested me, threw me about, time and again
Resolute with a gleam of hope, I believed every crevice had to have a rope
Dare to dream - that's the only way to cope, no matter how slippery the slope!
You may find existence blighted, and the waters ever so turbid
You may find your love jilted, and your fear of very life morbid
Against relentless fate you may be pitted, with a pallid visage and pace limpid
O' traveler but never be timid, hold on with all your strength and you WILL be lifted
When bad luck chases you in a frequent bout, and your failures but heighten your doubt
When best of efforts culminate in a burn-out, and society labels you a lout
Strike out with your steely resolve and make it count, and all popular wisdom indeed flout
With grit if you just held about, surely you would see hard work's clout..
