Spring
by
Mike Bayles
I am the act of melting
the sweep of warm breeze
the overfilling stream
the planted seed growing land.
I am hope seeking hope
the lines brought forth
the poet's dream.
I lurk in the hearts of lovers,
and I raise and crash young hopes
like scenes of Romeo and Juliet.
I am daylight seeking more,
the shedding of excess garments
the taking of finals
the eternal vision of freedom.
I'll take your heart
with a moment's notice
and drench you with rain
with sudden refrain.
Even after I leave
you'll bid my return
the song of warm gentle wind
always remembered, my friend.
