Glorified Babysitting

Watching children live in decay with all the hopes of every child.

Glorified babysitting for children

Who refuse to learn, because

They are tired from morning chores.

It is Collin, who knows pitching hay

Washing dishes, and sweeping floors

Are all that matter to parents

Who let him leave home with

Matted hair, dirty nails and smelling

Of week old Mother Nature.

So broken are their spirits

From repeatedly being pushed down

Like a tractor planting a fall harvest,

That they may never bloom.

Trying to teach these kids

Is like trying to teach a caterpillar

How to fly. They will learn

What time has to offer, if only

They are patient and make it out alive.
