Tongue in cheek...

I opened my eyes this morning listening

To the silence

No fire

No brimstone

No neighbor’s dobermans down at the street

Barking at the deer hound

Who gets his morning walk right about this time

Then I looked over and on the chair were two little pelts

Neatly folded

Doggie pelts

Our doggies

I jumped up and in the neighbor’s backyard

Three brown pelts, neatly folded

Dog Rapture and I had slept through it

They didn’t even leave a note

Mark Twain said a hundred years ago or so

“Heaven goes by favor

If it went by merit,

You would stay out and

Your dog would go in”

So, old preacher Camping almost got it right

Just another slight miscalculation

He got the part right about hell though

Nice write, adding the Twain quote and the cute doggie picture made the prefect additions.

I've always loved that Twain quote.

Not being a religious type, I've always thought that if there is a heaven, Mercie, Sabra, Dinky, Daisy, Fergie, Becky and Wednesday will be there... I mean, that's, of course, if I get to heaven.

Very well done, Patrick. I've always said that "Dog is a perfect reflection of God." Definitely more deserving than we are. God bless.

Good one. I wouldn't want to be there without the dogs.
