I Know Not Why
I sit here at water's edge
for the answers I do listen
I know not why the stars
in the sky brightly glisten
I know not why
some hearts are allowed to fly
I know not why
some never soar the sky
I know not why
some doors remain closed
I know not why
for some love is always opposed
I know not why
upon the shelf must be home
I know not why
some are destined to be alone
I know not why
what is given is not received
I know not why
heart ache must be conceived
I know not why
some must lie
I know not why
Love has to die
I know what I yearn
I will never again feel
For what is received
is never real
I know not why
some have an easy road to trod
But I do know
All things rest in the hands of God
