Ground soggy, asphalt

slick as trees and shrubs

wear crinoline petticoats

to show off  the vegetation

and we wonder where

all of the water will go,

but water does what

water does, seeking its own

level, then burgeoning above

barriers made by God

and man, and only

God knows when it will

end, when summer will

begin, and when we will

regret wishing

the rain would end,

because when the rain ends

the drought begins.

Thanks, Karla. Wasn't sure I was making myself clear enough that I wasn't just talking about nature, but human nature as well and really the state of the world. Appreciate your encouragement.

That ending: pow. Right between the eyes in spot on truth! Excellent, Carol.
