One of my early poems from the 80's.

by LaMonte Henderson

She caught a star
A thousand rainbows filled her head
And it reminded me of all those yellow
All those yellow things
She said, “ Can’t be alone, alones the color you.”
I turned away
Emotions do have colors
Tears alone they have the color blue

Found out how alone alone could be
When music’s playing in your head
But no one plays it perfect
Cause no one reads a single note up there

I turned away
Just ran away into another point of view
Cause heaven knows all the things
All the yellow things she wanted to do

A thousand words –
A thousand promises she made
I heard a raven singing
“Why are you so far away”
I couldn’t say that
This color blue
This fuck’in color blue is every part of you
I turned away
Just ran away into another point of view
And Heaven knows
This she it’s you
And Heaven knows
That you are just a dream inside my head
Oh I wish you were dead…
Dead, dead, dead
