As I turn another year older today, I reflect on my thirty plus years
And the many things that I'm thankful for, but the greatest is parents so dear.
You fed me and clothed me, took care of my needs
Calmed me from fears in the night.
Bandaged my hurts with kisses and hugs, And taught me to do what was right.
You made time to play, we took walks in the woods
We fished and played lots of ball
No matter the game, I asked you to play, You were willing to give it your all.
You took me to Church and taught me God's love
You were examples in word and in deed
By placing Him first and living for Him, I would always have all that I need.
You taught me that life is as precious as gold
And the best things in life are free
Like the offer of friendship to someone alone, And a smile for someone I see.
I know you weren't perfect, but neither was I
Many a difference we shared
But in all that you did and all that you said, I always knew that you cared.
You gave me your best, while raising me up, I’m sorry when I let you down
But I love you much more than you’ll ever know
There are no better parents around.
I could never return what you’ve given to me, But this I want you to know
The words on this page are my gift to you
Thank you both for loving me so.
