It is impossible to have lived the life that I once did and not have the 'residue' of it...touch those that are closest to me. All of my children have 'scars' but, it is my baby boy that really took a beating. He is 26 and has been in and out of jail most of his life...in fact, he is now incarcerated. He has never been bitter towards me...never blamed me for anything...tho...one of the first things I did when I truly surrendered my life to Jesus Christ was to apologize to each one of my children for not being a better mother. My poem '...a Light!' is about the miraculous change that is beginning to show through in his person. My baby boy is a writer and poet and a couple of days ago I received this 'tribute' from him. I cried...it was like 'Mother's Day in August'.

You screamed...because you loved me

You hit me...because you loved me

You set rules, regulations and...close boundaries

for my future enlightenment...not for control

You carried me...when I could not walk

You fed me...when I could not eat

You were not my enemy

You are not my friend...for freinds come and go

as everything else in this earth

Looking in the mirror...the reflection I see

makes me feel strongly about this

Though the reflection I see is not actually you

it somehow...is you

And you are certainly more than special

because...I only get you

...Once

whose strength come from God her Father, one fully armored
in Jesus and clothed in humility! What a beautiful testimony

A wonderful tribute to a mother... I am sure that all mothers feel that they could have been a better mother at times. That is part of living and growing, but what a pay back it is to have your son feel privileged to look like you.

The sage said: "It is not a crime to get sick, but it is a sinful crime to remain sick."

Blessed are those that seek for medical and spiritual help!

When a human being understands the sublimity and the supremacy of motherhood, the seraphic beings will accompany her/him for life.

Thank you for sharing this treasure "...Once ('Mother's Day'....in August)" shines.

In appreciation,

Joyce,I am a strong believer in nothing just happens, your son who has been in and out of prison is now finding himself, sad but true that it took him going to prison to find himself, but nothing just happens, thank God that he is able to find himself, so be it that he is in prison, better there with a heart beat of sounds, than, well you know, But all praise go to our father, only he knows if this is your sons last trip to the pin, let's just stay in prayer not only for him but all of our young men, May you remain with God, and let your Son know this piece is dynamite. Sorry to have written so much, but it was just touching, I have 3 daughters no sons.

Joyce, In dealing with our past, sometimes we can only hug each other, cry and move on. The one thing we can't do is look back and get angry. Tell your son, I like his work.
