This is the 4th of 6th works by my son, who is presently incarcerated. I am submitting it because one of my Den Buddies enjoyed his work submitted in August so much, that she requested to read some more. Enjoy!

Oh, eyes...dear, eyes...why have you forsaken me?

you have done nothing but lie to me

...in fact, you are the lie

Many days, evenings and nights you have looked

at me with total compassion

...saying, I love you

And will  do so...not just today and tomorrow but

forever...you have hurt me

...so bad that I no longer

Want my eyes...nor do I want anyone else to possess

them...oh, how I wish that I was blind...or

should I be angry with myself

...because I am blind?

Looking...and seeing...are two very different things....as are listening and hearing. This is a poem that touches the heart on many levels.

Wow, excellent use of language with a ton of meaning behind it. Asa, you are a true poet.

A double meaning in this intense heart felt poem ! It draws the reader in and I can feel his pain! As humans we make mistakes and often do not see what is before our eyes.....M

This is very deep with emotions. Some can not see the forest, because of the tree's. A very good write and thank you.

Yes, our blindness comes, many times, from what we don't want to see, what we refuse to look at. It can be difficult to allow ourselves to SEE the truth.
Good job Asa.

...we can look, but it is our choice to see, the blind may see more than you and me.

No one will be more blind that the ones that don't want to see.
