The older I get the more appreciative I am for God's Wondrous Mercy and Sweet Grace. I don't know about anyone else, but I personally could not survive, nor have any hope of ever seeing My Redeemer face to face without these beautiful gifts that were purchased with so great a sacrifice just for me...and you. I won't go into particular details, but let me just say that the other day...I forgot. Yes...I forgot that I was once blind and could not see. I forgot that I was once a lost sinner without hope. I forgot that I am still a sinner...but now no longer lost and no longer without hope. I may not do the things I used to do but every day, in some way(thought, word or deed)I come short of the glory of God. And if not for the 'light' of conscience that has been awakened in me through the Love of Christ, I would still be lost. Yes, me, who has to repent 'daily', I had the audacity to look upon another with scorn in my heart. I looked upon another's sin as being so much worse than anything I had ever done wrong in my life time. I forgot that sin...is just that...'sin'. I fell into the error of 'categorizing' it with a 'I've never done that' attitude. I turned away when I should have left myself open to be used by God...if He so desired. A 'guided' message would have been so much better than my scorn. Now, please...don't get me wrong, I am not beating myself up over the incident because I repented and have received His forgiveness for it, but I am just saying how easy it is to stray from being a humble recipient of His Mercy and Grace, to a...haughty condemner. We forget...often.

Joyce,

How easy we forget not to judge others! You have pointed this out so well, and have made us all think to be a little more understanding. Thank you for this.

many people forget this,
even something so "seemingly" small as complaining is a sin
nailing "complaining" to the cross is not as easy as it sounds
but whatever it is that you forgot the Lord is there to remind you
and all of us as we seek HIM & his Glorious Presence!!
you are never alone Joyce...you know this :)

God Bless You Den Sister

dim? as in diminished light... dim light... diminutive aspect? diminishing returns ... so allusive so many possibilities... the ambiguity, the cryptic cross-stitch of meaning here is wonderful. I also like your premise... I often am guilty of selective amnesia, not wanting to dwell on bad memories, but it is through those maladaptive ways that our Lord brings us so as a mode of contrast and transcendence we might overcome our challenges, rise above our weakness, and realize our rightful place in his blessed kingdom... can we hope for less when we strive to be more than we thought it possible to be? Nothing we know now can compare to how we are known by he whose name above all names resounds and echoes throughout all eternity! All this from our Roman heritage, but we will not roam far before our Good Shepherd draws us once more to himself so that we might come to know ourselves for who we really are for the first and last time, until time itself lifts a hand to wave goodbye.

BEAUTIFUL AND SO TRUE, Joyce!
We do forget that sin is sin; there are no little sins or big sins. God looks at all sin the same way:those actions that separate us from Him.
Thank you for this well needed reminder.

Joyce, you are a beautiful woman of God, redeemed by His saving mercies. If you slip, remember that you are but human and one step away from His forgiveness. You are a humble woman and so worthy of His love for you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, we are the better for reading your words.
