A Simple Man

He was my Daddy

Articulating his words

He wanted to be heard.

He once said to me

Lying on in his bed

His words are still in my head.

I didn’t want to hear

His simple words

I didn’t want to be there.

Daddy, take us away

And, your simple words.

Take us, to a happier day.

Articulating his words

He was a simple man

Wanting me to understand.
